THE TRANSFORMED DISCIPLE

What does it mean to follow Christ?

The walk of Christianity is, for me, about the Glorification of God through personal redemption, transformation and freedom. All of these come from the APPROPRIATION of faith in Jesus Christ.

31 So Jesus said to the Jews who had believed him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples,32 and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” - John 8: 31,32

His coming into the world in human flesh.

His living a perfect life & dying a substitutionary sacrificial death for the sin of those who believe in him,

His resurrection from the death, which conquers the dominion of the enemy (sin, death) which separates us from God the Father

and the giving of the Holy Spirit (the power of which raised Jesus from death) which gives life to our mortal bodies that we might put to death the deeds of the body (which lead to sin and separation from God).

The walk of appropriating Jesus, the Word and the Spirit comes from Jesus, the Word and the Holy Spirit. Our part is to have faith and put to death our OLD (the worldly, carnal, mind will and emotions) self and to put on and live in the NEW. We can help lay a foundation to this work by understanding who we are in relationship to God as people made new.

Join me as I go on a daily journey of looking at what God says about us and how we can appropriate that, participating with God to be renewed in our mind, to be healed from lies and sin, and to walk in the new life of freedom and fulfil our call to glorify God.

This life is summed up in the fruit or characteristics of the Holy Spirit (the characteristics which become evident in one who lives by the spirit and not by the flesh):

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, gentleness, goodness, faithfulness, self-control.

It is my prayer that through this blog we may all grow in our likeness of Jesus by his Spirit through faith and to the Glory of God. Walking in newness of life and freedom.

6 We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin. 7 For one who has died has been set free from sin. - Romans 6: 6.7
